Angar — four businesses on one site

Before any build, we went through the requirements line by line. Several turned out to be expensive and decorative: the kind of thing that looks good in a deck and returns nothing.

The estimate came down noticeably as a result. We did not talk the client into a bigger scope — we took out the parts not worth paying for and kept the ones that do the work.

Someone looking to get a rear derailleur fixed and someone who wants a bike for the weekend are two different errands. A third person isn't there for the coffee — they're there for the others: to catch up, argue about a route, show off a new wheel.

Give them one menu of four equal items and every one of them has to go hunting. So the structure follows what people arrive with, not the org chart of the business.

Lviv has no shortage of workshops, and a business card with a price list for tube changes would have been the shortest route. Except Angar doesn't run on its price list.

People go there for the room: coffee, familiar faces, talk about routes. So the site was built as the face of that crowd rather than a service page — which is why the café sits level with repairs on it, not beneath them.
